Why are pollinators important?
We hear often about the reduced populations of bees and butterflies due to the loss of habitat and the excessive use of pesticides. The problem is that we need these insects to pollinate our plants so that the fruits and vegetables we eat can grow! We can all do our part by creating a safe habitat for these insects!

The Monarch Life Cycle
-
Let's Eat!
The monarch caterpillars have one mission and that is to eat as much milkweed as possible! Milkweed is the only plant they eat and one plant is never enough!
-
The Chrysalis
When done eating tons of milkweed, your caterpillar will find a safe place to rest and hang upside down in a J shape. He is now ready to go into his chrysalis and will soon emerge as a beautiful butterfly!
-
Welcome Little One!
The butterfly exits the chrysalis and will hang upside down to dry it's wings. When dry, they will fly off to repeat the cycle!
-
How can you help?
Plant pesticide free milkweed and flowering plants! Milkweed is the only plant that the monarch caterpillars can eat and the adults need flower nectar to fuel migration and reproduction.
